“Cutting Edge Technology and Managing Change”

This interactive talk will highlight some of the changes that libraries are going through particularly with new cutting edge technologies. This will be a discussion about what we have done, what we do and what we want to do in the future. We will talk about some ways everyone is already doing more than you might think and come up with strategies to help make everyone more comfortable as we look forward.

11:00 Session #2: Jeremy Yates, Special Projects Coordinator, Putnam County Library

“Evolution of a Makerspace”

What is a Makerspace? As Putnam County staff has learned from experience, Makerspace is a tool not a resource. A Makerspace is what you and your users make it. From 3D printers, robots, and electronic kits to their new Oral History Project, Jeremy will take you through the evolution of the Makerspace currently taking shape at the Putnam County Library System.

1:00 Session #3: Mary Whiting, Head of Youth Services. Deltona Regional Library, Volusia County Public Library.

“MakerLab Club – Multi-day, Maker Workshops for Kids and Teens”

This 45 minute workshop will discuss planning and marketing two-day, multi session maker programs for children and teens. Participants will gain ideas for themed maker sessions, examples of activities for these sessions, as well as plan to strategically schedule the activities, and program attendance and registration management.
